Sample the best of Porto Municipal Theatre as this August dance shows will give you a hint of what's to come. Before the season official launch on 8th September, the Municipal Theatre of Porto provides subscriptions for six dance performances by renowned national and international dancers, namely Marlene Monteiro Freitas and Jérôme Bel.

The "Cultura em Expansão" is back this September, with a new calendar of activities that features 38 performances till the end of the year. Also, there are new rules to comply with.

The restoration works in a building located at the Rua de S. Miguel enabled the finding of 13 skeletons of French soldiers, who would be part of the Soult army, more than 200 years ago, during the Napoleonic Invasions.

The comedy-ballet type of play by Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, also known as Molière, "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme" marks the start of the 2020-2021 season at the National Theatre São João. The show will go onstage at the Theatre Carlos Albert (TeCA) on 6th August and marks, as well, the first classical performance by the company Teatro Palminha Dentada. The play presentation comes to its close on 23rd August.

Porto will play host to WOMEX Festival in October 2021, the World Music Expo, one of the most relevant music support and development projects in the global music scene that will make its absolute debut in Portugal, in the city of Porto and it will gather thousands of music lovers and music makers in the Invicta, from over 90 countries.

The Miró collection, transferred to Porto by the Portuguese Government, for a 25 year period, was officially designated public interest collection today, in the National Official Journal, in a decree signed by the Assistant Secretary of State for Cultural Heritage, Ângela Ferreira.
