The National Assembly, jointly with Porto City Hall, promotes a colloquium to debate the future of democratic political representation in Portugal at the Municipal Library Almeida Garrett, on 22 January, on the occasion of the 200 years of the establishment of the Sanhedrin, in the context of the Bicentennial Celebrations of the Portuguese Constitutionalism.

Arts and crafts, antiquities, second-hand and vintage items, designer objects, organically produced food, and many others, meld together for the public at urban markets this weekend in the city of Porto, continuing the tradition to enliven the city.

Veggyflours is the telling name of the project developed by four researchers from Catholic University of Porto (UCP), who are using tomato, grape and olive residues to create functional products that are unique, with high nutritional value and that can be applied in flours, loaves, seasoning, delicatessen and dairy products.

The Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP) hosts the Talk A Bit initiative, on 20 January to debate the impact of technology on society. This is the 6th edition of this event, organised by final-year students of the Computer and Engineering Software degree. The talk A Bit is a non-profit technology conference, which has been thriving since its inception in 2013.

Porto Municipal Theatre presents a journey through cult cinema, between Trieste and Porto, with Jeanne Balibar and Mathieu Amalric, on 23 January. The double session, which features two 35mm negative colour films, takes place at Rivoli and starts at 6.30 pm with the screening of "Le Stade de Wimbledon", by Mathieu Amalric, followed by the presentation of the film "Trois ponts sur la rivière" by Jean-Claude Biette at 10 pm.

Porto City Hall and ACP are studying the Street Stage format of Rally de Portugal in 2018. Porto City Hall finds that the investment on the Rally de Portugal is rather an attractive investment, and in 2017, this event even without the Porto Street Stage has had a return on investment up to 137 million euros to the country.

Rivoli turns 86 this Saturday, on January 20th and everyone is invited to the birthday party. All the events are free and the tickets can be picked up on the same day, from 10 am onwards, up to the limit of two per person.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, was the keynote speaker at the conference "Local authorities/regional authorities: models, strengths, risks and limits", on 15 January. This event took place in the context of the 6th Edition of the Week of the Republic of Cabo Verde.

The Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace) celebrates record number of visits - in 2017, about 360 thousand tourists have visited the landmark building, according to the Porto Trade Association (ACP). An increase of 6% regarding the same period last year.

Casa da Música (CdM) opens doors for four days (17 to 21 January) and invites the audience to participate in a set of events that are access free. Between today and Sunday, it is possible to watch rehearsals, take part in educational activities, watch films, visit the stage and backstage of the building that breathes and shares music for over a decade.
