Last day to submit applications to Porto Book Fair

The participation in the fair is open to publishers, booksellers, distributors, used bookstores, national and international entities. The application period to the 2019 edition of the "Feira do Livro" [Book Fair] of Porto finishes today, 3 July.

The biggest-ever edition of PortoCartoon showcases about one thousand drawings by cartoonists from around the world at the National Press Museum, in Porto, till the end of the year. The cartoon winner was the work themed "Money Language", created by the Belgian cartoonist Luc Descheemarker.

"A quiet evening of dance" at the Rivoli, on 28 and 29 June, at 9pm and at 7pm, respectively. William Forsythe, the American dancer and choreographer, resident in Frankfurt am Main in Hessen, stepped for the first time on Rivoli's stage eighteen years ago, in the framework of the "Porto 2001", when he was the Frankfurt Ballet Director.

Cinema House Manoel de Oliveira features the filmmaker's life and work

The "Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira" ["Cinema House Manoel de Oliveira", free translation] was inaugurated in Serralves, on 24 June by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The House was designed by architect Siza Vieira and "it does justice to the greatest filmmaker of our country, to the national cinema and to the city of Porto", affirmed Rebelo de Sousa

Porto Book Fair 2019 registrations are now open

Porto City Hall opened the registration period for the 2019 edition of Porto Book Fair. Those interested should apply till the 3 July. Porto Book Fair 2019 will be back to the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal, from 6 to 22 September. This edition honours essayist Eduardo Lourenço, the commissioner being the writer Nuno Artur Silva.

Porto Femme features women in cinema

Porto Femme 2nd edition kicks off today, 18 June at the Invicta. This international film festival is all about films made by women, starred by women, or where women play a relevant role.
